Discipleship

Discipleship is your next step after discovering Young Church is your home base for ministry in this world. These classes are not just classes but times for transformation. We want to help you be in process for life change and impact. One builds upon another and so we want to go through this together with you so we can impact our world for God's glory!

These classes are held on two consecutive Sunday mornings. They begin at 8:30am and go until 10:40am on both days.

Discipleship 1

This study is a time of teaching and interaction covering the essentials of what it means to have a life in Christ including truth, sin, repentance, Christ's sacrifice, following Christ, baptism, and more. The second half covers life in community including our purpose, our values, our beliefs, personal and corporate worship, God's design for the family, God's design for the church family, and the opportunity to covenant as a part of the Young Memorial church family.

Discipleship 2 [coming in September, 2008]

Discipleship 2 is a continuation of what we learned together in Discipleship 1.

Christians talk bunches about being "saved by grace" but so often we don't live by it. Discipleship 2 will answer the question of how to live by grace. What does it mean to mature as a Christ­ follower? Where is that victorious life I long for as a Christian and see in so many others? In this class we'll learn about our new identity in Christ, how to abide in this new life and what to watch out for to keep from getting bogged down in this walk as a believer. No one should escape this time together without embracing the significance, sufficiency, and security that is theirs in Christ!

Having been through Discipleship 1 is required for participation in this next important step.

Discipleship 3 [August 17th and 24th]

Discipleship 3 builds on what Discipleship 1 & 2 began.

What's next after knowing Christ and learning to live out of His life? Serving Him out of His life in a way that impacts our world! This third step  is packed with practical stuff that equips us to take up servanthood as Christ did and as He commands us to do. How has God called and prepared me to help build up this community of believers? How does He want to change my personal world through my life each day? We'll cover many areas including servanthood, what are spiritual gifts, the difference between spiritual gifts, fruits of the Spirit, and talents, what are my spiritual gifts, how can God use them here at Young Church, and more.
