Youth Fellowship GroupOur purpose is to engage consistently in group activities, mentoring, and expository life application; all focused on increasing youth’s faith in Christ Jesus. According to various sources, the number of students who abandon the Christian faith when they leave high school is unsettling. We at Young have developed a plan to counteract this trend and to create disciples who will stand for Christ in the good times and the bad. Unlike other people of the church, this demographic is fluid and in process to exit at a certain age. If we are going to impact these young disciples, the time must be now. Here is our process. YMBC G.A.M.E. Plan Group Activities – 1 Corinthians 12:14 states, “For in fact the body is not one member but many.” Doing things as a group puts into practice 1 Corinthians 12:14. These activities can cover a wide range of events such as mission trips, beach retreats, attending sporting events, team building games, and being around adult influencers. Mentoring – We engage in one on one, personalized, individual time spent with youth. Mentoring has the potential to develop life long relationships between today’s youth and adults with yesterday’s experiences. In fact, we believe that this is Jesus’ method of creating disciples. Lack of focus in this area is the very reason why so few disciples are made and why so many youth abandon the Christian life when they leave for college. Expository Life Application– We derive our purpose in living from the meaning of the biblical text. Application of the Scripture follows correct interpretation of it. Youth will see how the Scripture teaches them to live in the victory Christ brings. This is achieved by drawing applications from God’s word that are pertinent not only to youth but to every individual. For more information, please contact Quentin. |
